Not sure if this is an old issue or one that folks may not have encountered. I originally listed my hitchhikers as mystery boxes until you made the HH option available. I have not switched those boxes to be listed as HH's because I'm lazy.

I notice now that I go to accomplish this that the "edit letterbox" feature has the option for selecting it as a hitchhiker instead of the "normal" letterbox, however it will not allow me to remove the normal listing.

This is set up differently in AQ as a table for the hitchhikers? Anyhoo - I'll make the slow transition from the normal listing to hitchhiker status, I was just wondering why the "edit" feature did not take care of that?

Thanks,
Phyto

Ah, yeah... I tried to discourage people from listing HH's until a hitchhiker option was available since I knew it would be problematic to convert them later.

Ypu. Once a box is entered, you can't switch what type of box it is. Different types record different information in different tables. "Normal" boxes store information about trail length and location--which have no equivelents in the hitchhiker world. And people who've found hitchhikers can record where and in what box they found the hitchhiker--something that those who find normal boxes don't have to worry about.

Consequently, there's not really an easy programmatic way to convert a box between different types--and in rare cases is there ever a reason to do so in the first place. So, alas, there is no way to convert between them on the website, and probably never will be.

But if you give me a list of the boxes you'd like converted, I can manually tweak the database a bit and get it to work. =)

Nah, I've already converted them manually.
Thanks however!
