I’ve used all of the above including movie quotes, song lyrics, different languages, obscure terms for common things. I’m not at all computer literate so I wouldn’t even know how to employ all the tools at my disposal so I mostly depend on old school tactics. One of my mystery box clues makes no sense until you cut and paste each line separately in a search engine, then the pattern appears.

The planter used the name of an actual organization/agency which is still around. Whichever (probably an) employee planted the boxes likely had approval. You could try contacting them.
Though I have no idea who you’d ask for…

I'll bet it's IrishRef's Springbok puzzle ring too. I've done it for a couple years and it's super fun! Keep an eye out in December for it or shoot IrishRef a message and let him know you'd like to join for 2025. Usually a few drop out every year and new folks rotate in. Or start another ring!

When I have a postal that belongs to a tracker that includes several smaller stamps I have listed it as one AQ# and posted it as a series---- but when the title shows up in the tracker, it is showing only the name of the first stamp listed instead of the named title.... examples are AQ 365302 and 363122
am I doing something wrong or is there an error?

Thanks. It's definitely an agency that was promoting outdoor activities and had planted a handful of boxes around. I don't know how this one ended up listed that way.

The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar

Released in 2023 comes . . . The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar.

The premise is as follows:

One day, while visiting some friends Henry Sugar (this is not his real name) comes across an odd book in their library. Intrigued, Henry steals the book; a book containing a doctor's report of Imdad Khan, a man who claimed he can see without using his eyes. The report entails Imdad's journey of learning this gift, and Henry a man of fortune decides to learn this gift to expand his fortune.

After some significant time Henry actually learn's Imdad's gift and it changes everything about him.

Having said more than enough, on to my WA Paws:

One and A Half WA for excellent talent everyone brought through their multiple characters.

One WA for the visualization of this movie. It is stunning.

One WA for it's story and original portrayal of the story.

However, I have two major complaints.

  1. 1 is the pace. It moves way too fast. You really have to pay attention to understand what is happening.

  1. 2 I really felt they spent an enormous amount of time telling Imdad's story when the title/story is about Henry. It was such a greatly missed opportunity to give the audience a chance to see all of Henry's deliberate characters acting "out" at the casino as well as seeing how those who benefitted from Henry's gift.

For these two reasons I am taking a WA Paw way. I would have preferred and loved to have seen Henry's arch from a rich spoiled man to gifted philanthropist, as well as those who benefitted from his gift.

This is a beautiful movie, filled exceptional actors but I would have preferred more Henry and the outcome of his newly developed gift than Imdad's story dominating the movie.

Okay . . . next up is the The Grand Budapest Hotel.

Here is tracker info to look---
AQ 3362060 in tracker #11553
AQ 365302 in tracker #11262
AQ 363122 in tracker #11595
are all examples
It never did this in the past

I've gone ahead and edited the location. It's always important to make sure locations you list are actually where you expect them to be when listing a box!

In this case, the location is near "Fountain Lake"--which is the name of an actual lake in Connecticut. But it's also the name of a city in Arkansas, and if you don't narrow down which Fountain Lake you're referring to, AQ might guess--and guess incorrectly. At the very least, I'd recommend including a state when listing a box's location. It's a common problem with a lot of box listings. Even if it's a big city like Las Vegas, it's always a good idea to include the state so you're listing doesn't end up in New Mexico.

You're doing something wrong. A few things, actually.

First, if it's one box with multiple stamps, it should be listed as one box--not a series. So based on your description, it sounds like the entire "series" is mislabeled. If you want to list individual stamps in a box that has multiple stamps, the proper place to do that is as an "other" box.

The second problem is that only individual boxes are listed in a tracker--not entire series. I see a "series" listed like "Prank props", my expectation is that there are 5 individual boxes that you are sending out one at a time. Maybe each of them are in different trackers. So when you add a box to a tracker, you are adding an individual box. One box, not an entire series. If there is a series and you need to add all of the boxes in the series to the tracker, you'll need to manually add every single one of them, one at a time. You only added one of the boxes in that series to your tracker (the first one).

The third problem is that people like to "tie together" their listings. For example, a postal box is often part of a ring, so someone might give the name of the tracker and the name of the box in the title of the box so it's obvious what tracker the box is a part of, and the naming convention for this is "Tracker name: Box name". So AQ automatically removes everything before the ":" when it's listed inside of a tracker. It's unnecessary. But because you are using a naming convention of "Box name: Stamp name", everything is all messed up. AQ thinks the box name is a tracker name, and that the stamp name is a box name, and displays it as such.

You could give it another name that doesn't include a colon if you want the entire title to be included, but that doesn't really fix the root cause which is that the postals were listed incorrectly in the first place.

OK I understand what you are saying and I appreciate the explanation. What I would ask you then, is- if I am sending a postal with several little stamps in one envelope as a group/set, it is not a series- it is still a micropostal- so I feel odd listing it as "other" (and if I list it as "other" then I don't think I can add it to the postal because it must be a postal to be included. I have accidentally listed a new box as an LTC and it could not be added)- how would you recommend I list it? I am open to feedback.... but I do not feel like each stamp should really have it's own AQ # since they are all in the same envelope not separately mailed envelopes--- I would list them as separate listing if they each had their own envelope. (Sorry for the long run on sentence response!)

Thanks for all you do for the letterboxing community! I appreciate the help too!

I guess I thought it was a "problem" because it was different- because previously it was not like this (see AQ#361041 in tracker #11508: all one AQ # with separate stamps all under one listing that displayed normal in the tracker grid)

I don't think there is another puzzle ring besides Irish Ref's- that I know of---- but if there was one to begin, I would definitely join! It is very fun!

I have seen people possibly suggest lego/stamp set trackers too.... buy a lego set, carve a stamp with it, assemble and stamp and then disassemble and send along! But I don't think it had enough interest to actually come to fruition!?

The puzzle postal has limited openings and when you assemble the puzzle, the "logbook" is you have to flip the puzzle over and stamp the back!!!!

You still list it as one postal box. The stamps you can track separately as "other" boxes. Just like a traditional box with a bunch of stamps in it. It should be listed as one traditional box--but that doesn't prevent you from listing each, individual stamp as "other" boxes.

That's an optional thing, though. There's not really any reason to list every single stamp you carve. Some people like to, and that's fine--but the proper place for that is the "other" category. If you want to list boxes, that's what the other categories are for.

because previously it was not like this (see AQ#361041 in tracker #11508: all one AQ # with separate stamps all under one listing that displayed normal in the tracker grid

That's because you added each of the "boxes" in the "series" to the tracker. If you only added the first box in the series, you'll only see the first box there as well. You can still do that with your other listing. The only reason you see the first box in the series is because you only added that one box to the tracker.

You need to add them all, one at a time, if they are all supposed to show up in the tracker.

But it's a lot of extra work, and frankly, not really necessary. Especially if you just list boxes rather than stamps.

Exactly! The TRACKER is a tool for tracking boxes not stamps.
Each boxer who joins a tracker should only have one listing on the tracker (exception if there are multiple envelopes/boxes involved). It is difficult and confusing to follow the progression of boxes on a tracker if multiple people add multiple stamps to a tracker.

You can list your stamps however you keep your own logbook statistics. If you consider every stamp you send in the mail a postal letterbox nobody's going to call out the dreaded LB police.

We were involved in a few postals several years ago that included one puzzle (with themed stamp and logbook) moving between people in the ring. I would think that would be easy enough to set up and offer.

I'm not very clever in that aspect and I hate when clues are too smart for me, so I never want a finder to feel dumb like I have on a few occasions where the clues were so far above my head I ended up giving up.

I looooove ciphers and codes! I even taught a class at LB events on them.

I did have a box with four (4) different ciphers.

HOWEVER, I am always willing to give guidance and even answers to my boxes with ciphers.

When you run across those clues that you have tried but stump you, try reaching out to the planter.

Sometimes, we are so tickled to teach you a new cipher, we'll help you solve it!

Hi! I think you are trying to figure out how to login to AQ within Clue Tracker. If that is not the case, please let me know.

From the search screen, tap the triangle to open "Search Options"
Just below that you should see a prompt to log in to Atlas Quest (or LbNA). Tap "Log in"
Then you will see a page from AtlasQuest that prompts you to Login. Enter your trailname and password. Then tap the "Approve" button.

You will know you are logged in if you see your trailname below "Atlas Quest" (or LbNA).
