I really enjoyed that--thanks for sharing!

Whenever a teach a carving class, in addition to recent carvings, I pull out some of my first carves to share with the students. My first carves are so sad--and not at all intimidating. I think it is a nice ice-breaker.

After 13 years of boxing I'm JUST now venturing into serious carving. WW I can only hope to be that good in a few years. Keep up the good work.

Yeah, those look great! Those eggs look familiar. 😉

I was looking back at some of my early carvings the other day. Embarrasing! Ha ha.

Very impressive, WW. I've been carving about a year now and need to improve my faces. Which tutorials were most helpful?

Kirbert has a great tutorial for knife carving (which I ended up not doing because my husband insisted I wear kevlar gloves because I am VERY clumsy), Atlas Quest's own tutorial on gouge carving is here, and Jeep Girl 66 recently published this tutorial, both of which were very helpful to me as a gouge carver.

Just keep on carving, carving, carving! The more you do it, the better you get!
