Why a tracker for a traditional box?

For anything that someone wants to use it for. *shrug*

For example?

a huge letterboxing event in the Northeast for Christmas that has multiple series with different themes. Each has its own "tracker". Or, another example: the Ship of Fools events had two traditional trackers for stamps, one for ship stamps, one for fools stamps. Easy way to organize donations for large events where you want lots and LOTS of stamps.

I recently created a traditional tracker for stamp donations for a series I'm going to plant. I wanted to call attention to my request and organize my donations.

My tracker:

Postal Trackers

Postal trackers generally track the progress of a postal "letterbox" or a postal ring.

LTC Trackers

LTC trackers generally keep track of trades of individual cards, LTC swaps, etc.

What is a Traditional Tracker?

A tracker to organize something that has to do with traditional boxes. It could be trades, swaps, a series that is planted by many people over the country and only related by theme, etc.

There's no set use for trackers -- you use them when you need to keep track of things. The type that you pick depends on what you're keeping track of.

I generally prefer it when a host uses the other tracker for this. I don't like creating fact traditional listings for tracking purposes only. I don't really care what people use "other" box types for. Besides having a fake traditional plant in my log, then you need to remember to delete it when the host is ready to plant, and in some cases you find stamps double-listed with the host's listing and the carver's listing -- and usually you can find that some people log both of them as finds :)

Until I read this I didn't know there was such a thing as an "other" tracker. Guess I'll know next time. :(

Sheba,
What new box did you plant. I live in Wilmington. I have already found several of your boxes. I really enjoy your clues and carves so I would love to find your new one!
