Nowadays carving BIGGER stamps.

My stamps use to be bigger, I've been working on making them smaller when I can, of course sometime you want a big stamp. But my best friend who I go out with a lot has a small logbook, so I do think of her complaining about big stamps. It also depends of if I'm planting them or the are for an LTC.

If my Michael's stop carrying pink stuff I'll cry, seriously. I will be stopping there tonight to get some more, I'll be doing a lot of carving this weekend.

I guess it depends on your definition. I just have to rib you a bit because you get so bent out of shape about the subject line. :)

When you pride yourself on rude, obnoxious and anti-social behavior, you can hardly claim the intellectual high ground when they read your posts that way. Own it.

It is a shame when honestly expressing one's opinion is considered "rude, obnoxious and anti-social."

I guess if I parsed the words by instead saying "You are wrong but you are great and wonderful for thinking that!"

I may not always have the intellectual high ground, but I can assure you that I am at least always intellectually honest.

As an outsider (no knowledge of the posting history of cyclonic or others on here) I can honestly say it is very easy to misconstrue what you read...there are no social cues as in face to face interaction. I learned this after having a conversation with someone with Aspberger's over the phone...then face to face.

Cyclonic:

I don't know you, and at times reading your posts, I am doubtful I would enjoy meeting you. This is not because I don't value people who are direct and honest. Nor am I against those who are intelligent, quick-witted, or cunning, or even the converse - intellectually challenged, slow-processing, or dull. However, I do believe that being direct, yet compassionate makes for more enjoyable interactions. I would take a slow witted and dull person over one who lords their intellect over others. I would take a person with tact and caring over those who are so direct they appear to enjoy cutting people down.

I at times find merit and appreciation in your posts, but the sharp and pointed jabs tend to make me feel sad for you. If that is your goal, you have found success. If your regularly abrasive comments have a different purpose than creating pity and sadness for you, perhaps seeking a different hobby would be better for you and those who enjoy these boards being intellectually and creatively challenging, but also compassionate and socially uniting.

Your response to this post will certainly help enlighten me about your intentions.

Sincerely,

Jeff

This whole thing is pretty funny. In the past YEAR, how many posts has Cyclonic made that have had the "disagree" button pushed??

Yep, 2 posts. And one of those posts has 20 agrees. Some people develop a thicker skin online and some people don't. Welcome to the internet folks. ;-)

Good points, Fluffy Cow.

Also good points, and since the internet is a microcosm of our world, which parts of society do you want to spend time in?...I personally avoid those areas in the world that make me feel badly about myself...

And hopefully, anyone agreeing with this statement applied it to all people.

I see everyone jumping on Cyclonic quickly (and admittedly, he does ask for it from time to time), but how many of you would have appreciated a subject line with YOUR name saying that you have problems with people just because you did not appreciate someone sticking to board posting etiquette?

Shiloh took a jab at him and he jabbed back. This isn't the first time, and they both know how to take it. And then everyone decided to throw in their judgments on to the character of others.

Yeah, it started out as a light-hearted tease, but it needs to stay that way. It's no longer a joke if people are angry.

For the record, Make Your Subject Count is a Best Practice for message boards-- just like not xposting or putting things on the wrong board (which also annoys people).

A better discussion would be, how can we gently remind people of proper board etiquette like complete subject lines, not xposting, etc. when it happens?
Obviously, how Cyclonic did it is not only ineffective but counter productive.

I remember Dixie used to be very good at changing subject lines as she posted and starting new threads as new topics came up. So if people made incomplete ones she'd simply fix them as she responded. Perhaps if people did that?

Nicely put, Mama Wolf.

My comments toward Cyclonic about intentions behind comments would fit for anyone that appears to frequently rub people the wrong way. I would prefer discussions rather than jabs and very much hope this can occur, including with Cyclonic.

Probably because the only people left to read his posts don't really care what he says or don't know how he is yet and are just waiting to be attacked by him at some point for no good reason. All the others have clicked the ignore member button on his profile page.

Just figured I'd add my .02 cents also, and am wondering how much money we'd have if we were collecting all this change!

The problem with changing Subject lines is that it appears as a new thread rather than a continuation of the existing thread. Still, perhaps it's a better idea than continuing with the Subject-less thread.

I presume that we all realize that this Dead Lemur thread could have been avoided in entirety if people would only post a valid subject line on their messages?
