My question is

My question is: Would you come??

We can do some VA events, since we live on the border.

Maybe smarty pants.... but if there aren't any then I sure can't. I went to 12 events in 2010.. come on be nice to me, I missed like 3 events. I like to go to the events it's just I can't leave and be gone all weekend like yall ladies do. I get too homesick.... :-(

Not homesick - "Andy" sick! :)

We talked some this weekend about getting together informally to box together - different places around the Raleigh/Durham area each month. Kinda like those Second Saturday events held in other states. So, not as much traveling, maybe meeting in the morning and then boxing and then lunch or something.

So, if we do this, that's like a bunch more events this year!

that's right too.

There is a lot of boxes in Raleigh/Durham area that I don't have. So boxing and lunch sounds good. I'll keep watching the event page or watching the boards..

So let's start with a day boxing in Rocking Rox and if she doesn't come to us we will go to HER. Get out the bloodhounds and track her down, make her eat with us. lol

I like a good plan.

NO events listed for NC for the rest of the year???

Charlie and I are thinking about hosting ONE MORE MOVIE MADNESS Event.... at Halloween time.
"LETTERBOXERS OF THE LIVING DEAD" or "NIGHT OF THE LETTERBOXING DEAD".... some such ZOMBIE thing.

Nothing for sure yet.

Plus a LOLA coming up, probably in March. OCEAN WINDS, maybe you can make it down for the day for that !!

I have started making some inquiries for some stamps for an international event.... something like "Letterboxing Around the World". I have several offers so far :o) Certainly would have a Canada series; maybe a lighthouse series; and I have some European and African donations made too!! I've started a list of those willing to donate stamps and (including my own international carves for some LTC swaps) I have a list of at least 25 stamps!!

I was thinking springtime and would LOVE some input!! Last year we boxed at But Mil park on the first day of spring and then had a great event (hosted by Ponder) in Winston Salem on the first of May! I would LOVE some input from the NC (and honorary NCers) who frequent this board about locations ie) options include Hagan Stone Park; Bur-Mil Park and/or Southwest Park and dates!!

Thanks for your thoughts!!
Sincerely
Janet (mom of J A K)
PS -- I'll also have our small 3rd annual Girl Scout event in the spring too :o)

Ooooooo..........you got any stamps for Germany yet??? I could maybe come up with something for that.....maybe!!??!!

A spring event sounds fun to me! At least if you have it at Hagen Stone Park, it'll be a little closer!

I had thought about another event @ Salem Lake, but since they're doing dam construction, that may have to wait til next year when it's finished.

I only have my LTC carve for a German swap I was in .. there is a picture here http://www.atlasquest.com/showinfo.html?gBoxId=151598
I did message the people in the swap but haven't come up with any other Greman donations so far. I thought about posting on the stamp exchange page too. I wanted to see if there were enough stamps to plant and I think 25+ is a GREAT start.

So ... I was totally thinking of contacting you too to figure out when, where, how and what would make things work!! I just sent the messages to some of the LTC swap members on Sunday and was going to give it a few more days to see how many stamps I could rustl up... but when I saw oceanwinds message, I wanted to let people know what I was thinking!! I'd love any other input you have!!

Hagan Stone State Park is a beautiful park. It does have great trails and camping...been there many times over the years. I do know there are a couple boxes hidden there, under the radar, I think because it is a state park and there may end up being planting fees/costs?? That may be something to consider if you are thinking of an event there. I know many state parks will charge a fee for planting and/or not allow it at all.

Southeast is a nice park. I had a series there and airstream dreams has one there. I pulled mine at the end of the summer. The park closes for the winter months, which is actually my favorite time to box...no ticks, snakes and not many muggles :o) Plus, I find the weather more tolerable than the hot and humid summers we have.

I will give some thought to other parks and maybe come up with a location for your event...

Yeah, if it's a state park it can be expensive:

We just reserved our house in Frisco in OBX for the week of March 20th. Don't supposed you'd do anything down that far though. Letterboxing would certainly be more fun than cutting bait!

The OBX is lovely! We've been there several times for Thanksgiving. It seems like that is often the time when a number of us make it out to the OBX.
