Feeling bad

I just found out that a fellow letterboxer was hurt earlier today finding one of my boxes. It had nothing to do with the placement of the box, the wind started blowing her papers around and she quickly ran to catch the papers, but then tripped on a root. Still I feel bad knowing she was getting my box when it happened. A friend of hers sent me a message to let me know. Since her mom was with her and my box got scooped up with her stuff as they were whisking her away to the E/R and she felt bad about that. I hoping to hear soon if her leg is broken or not. So please send some good thoughts la tigresse's way, I'm sure she could use some.

She has AQ mail! Does anyone have her address...perhaps some get well cards would make her feel loved. If it were I, I'd be feeling a little embarressed that I fell, but would appreciate good wishes!

I just got the word that her leg is not broken, but she does have a torn muscle. She will be wearing a plastic leg support from her upper leg to ankle. I hope she doesn't get embarrassed that I posted about it here and knows I meant well. I know I would feel better if someone sent me a card wishing me well.

veganf and the Dolphins could you AQ mail me her address.
Thanks
GG

Are there not some special LTC's available for occasions such as this??

Who handles this?? Maybe we need to wait and see how she is first. Hopefully not hurt badly.

She email me last night and this was her 700th find, it will definately be a memorable one. She did get my "First Finder" LTC, but maybe we do need one for people hurt on the trail. LOL

Many thanks to everyone for your kinds thoughts, words and concern. I was relieved that x-ray showed my femur doesn't appear be broken (which everyone thought), I need to follow up with orthopedic doctor, ER dr. believes I tore the major muscle. Talk about embarrassing, ambulance, firetruck, neighbors, etc. Just like the commercial, "I've fallen and I can't get up!" While being lifted into ambulance I was calling out to my mother "Did you put everything away?", meaning "did you put LB back in hiding spot?" Turns out in her upset she just gathered everything up and threw it in her bag, which is why I called my good friend Squirrel Nutkin from ER to ask her to contact Guzzlin Gal on AQ to let her know why her brand new box was MIA!! But it's back in place now, I got a very nice First Finders LTC and find number 700!!! Glad it didn't happen with box 699!!
We did two of Guzzelin Gal's newly planted Halloween-themed drivebys, which were terrific, fun way to spend a sunny Halloween afternoon (until this happened!)
So I'll be concentrating on Postals and LTCs for awhile, but this won't stop me from getting back on the trail (no matter what my husband says!)!!! Thanks for all your support, sure is a great group here on AQ, I appreciate it very much.

I have her address - just sent her a postal last week.

I had a similar situation - we had a box plated in Maine with some shale rocks in the area. Another boxer fell and broke her leg and never reached the box. I sent her a copy of the image anyway - they were from Texas.

I've had a couple people with interesting stories when being first finders on my boxes. Which is kind of funny considering I've only planted 7. LOL

I was more concerned about hearing how you were doing than that my box was back in it's place. I guess if you have to be off the trails for a while it was pretty close to the right time of year for it to happen. ;)

Yikes! I know how you feel. I while back, a good letterboxing friend slipped and fell ....... into the Dragon's Lair of all places!!!! I felt HORRIBLE! This was no small trip - he slipped down a HUGE rock face and into the Pit. His fall was stopped when a large oak tree greeted his ribcage! {{{OUCH}}} ;o(

Fortunately, he was boxing with his partner and after a while he was able to hobble out on his own. There would be NO WAY to get help into that location! Good news - he is fine now! {WHEW!} ;o)

I forgot to mention the embarrassing fact that when they cut off my slacks and underwear (yes, underwear too!!) at the hospital, they were full of sticks and leaves!!

Yeah - that Dragon's Lair is treacherous... I know someone else who got caught up in its snare and had to hobble out of the woods....

And I thought Dragons were a myth.... seems they have more pull than one would think!

But there is a small risk going after any box. Don't feel like its a personal thing. Someone could just as easily get hurt getting a driveby. Hope for their speedy recovery back to the hunt!

Whenever you are out boxing, the chance you will be injured can be just a "roll of the dice" ;-)

Oh la tigresse... I am glad to hear from you here. I hope your recovery is speedy. Are you missing some teaching days?
You are a very dedicated boxer!! That qualifies you for an Injured while Boxing patch for sure!
I have an extra injured patch. Send me your address in an AQ mail and I'll send it to you.
Hugs,
Seagull
