I feel like rambling a bit, so bear with me for a moment.... =)
Have you all seen those Windows 7 commercials where the person is using their computer, excited about some feature in it that was "their idea." Goes something like, "I told Microsoft that I wanted my operating system to be easier to use, and look, Windows 7 is easier to use! Windows 7 was my idea!"
As if Microsoft really solicited ideas from us mere mortals. If I requested an operating system that was "harder to use, slower to load, and less secure," would they build it? Well, they might build it by accident, but it wouldn't be because that was their intended goal. =) Stupid commercials....
But it makes me think about all of the suggestions y'all have made over the years. Admittedly, I probably shoot 90% of them down for one reason or another, but I've probably implemented hundreds of your suggestions over the years. There's not a feature or page on Atlas Quest that hasn't been improved by your suggestions. Even that "Welcome, Trailname," message in the top-right corner of the page after you log in was a suggestion--one of the earliest ever suggested to me by someone who wanted a reminder of what "persona" he was logged in with. =)
Now I'm kind of wishing I kept a list of all of the suggestions I have implemented and who first suggested it. How fascinating that would be to look at. Maybe I should start keeping such a list. Some days or weeks when I shoot down a particularly large number of ideas, I feel kind of bad like I'm discouraging people, but perhaps a list of suggestions that I have implemented could be a source of inspiration? Or perhaps not, I don't know. =)
But I would like to thank everyone who has suggested improvements, even those I've shot down. This website is a better place because of people like you, and while I can't thank everyone individually, you should know that I do appreciate the efforts.
Okay, I'll get off the sappy soapbox now. But if you have suggested in idea that has been used, feel free to remind everyone of your contribution! What parts of Atlas Quest were your idea?

I really get a kick out of the fact that, in the person's vision of how he came up with the idea, he's a real hunk or a fabulous babe rather than the nerds that they actually are. That's a really funny feature of those ads.

I have a big ego, I guess I'll go first!
A ways back I suggested some changes in the wording of the home page to make them a bit friendlier to folks that are not letterboxers and simply read about it in a magazine somewhere.
I also much more recently suggested reformatting the Recent Threads widget to make it neater and add the ignore thread button.
Probably my most popular suggestion was the hats, or rather the changeable Premium Member hats.
I am still waiting on Ryan to make the site look less like someone puked up on my screen, but I won't hold my breath.

But having the screen look that way was my suggestion.
Here is a new poll. If you want Cyclonic to hold his breath don't mark any of the boxes below. If you want him to continue breathing mark any of them.

I'm thankful that all you wonderful folks make all those suggestions for Ryan to mull over... I've seen lots of changes - some took a little more to get used to than others - but overall - AQ is a credit to Ryan and all those that gave input... no matter how many times your ideas get kicked off the table - sometimes they brought up ideas that made things better for everyone!
So thank you to all of you - big egos and the smaller ones quietly sitting in the corner : )

I asked (more than once, sorry for being such a pain) for a notes section for members. It's beenso great to mark down emails, addresses, where I met them, who they are related to, etc.
Now I just wish Facebook had a notes section so I could mark down people's trailnames. . . see, AQ has spoiled me!

That's not the only ad. There's another one of a girl in a Starbuck's talking about how stable the OS is running multitasks. Again, there's a cut to a scene of her thinking up the idea of making an OS stable (Brilliant idea, actually!) and she's a hot babe. Then you're back to the girl in the coffee shop thinking "Man, they must have really dolled her up for that flashback!" It's a different girl, but it's not as radical a difference as that hunk in the shower.
I think there's a third one, too, another guy, this one's outside.

Now that you mention it, I kind of find myself not using that feature as much as I thought I would. I tend to forget it exists, and it's often times hard to get to having to click through to the person's profile then click again to open the notes I made for a person.
I'm thinking about adding that as another icon next to the standard "profile, contact, logbook" icons, making notes just a single click away from almost anything associated with a person--whether a post on the message boards, AQ mail, the letterboxing blogs, or whatever. I think I'd use it a lot more often if it were more accessible like that.
What do you all think about that idea? =)

So it would be an icon for view recent posts, instead of that being down below in the body of the profile? Sounds good to me. Will be interesting to see how you can include those other items you mentioned as well.
Oh, I may have misunderstood, possibly, the gist of the icon. It would be a note icon that took all of those things together, hmmmm.

I think I suggested to Ryan that the "proposed" website (I got to preview it before it was officially online) should be named something that was international and not just in the US.
Hence "Atlas" Quest was born.

I would much rather see something like this in the searches. Like putting a check mark in the selection box next to the listing. Then when you have 'selected' your search results you want to save them just click "save".
