Oh Cheryl,

My heart is breaking for you...so sorry for your loss. We are avid dog lovers here on the prairie and can feel your pain as if it were our own.

I'm really sorry to hear of Barkley's passing. It's so hard to lose a beloved member of the family, and there's just no way to understand unless you've experienced it. My beloved Phoenix has been gone for several years and I still miss her. She was the "once in a lifetime" dog who will have my heart forever. We've had other dogs that I've loved deeply, but Phoenix was so special to me.

I too want to offer my condolences in the loss of Barkley. It's amazing how much dogs become part of every little thing we do in life. I agree with the suggestion that you might consider keeping Team Mad Dawg as your trail name, in a way to carry on with Barkley's spirit! I'm guessing that in dog heaven there *are no boxes* that are dog-restricted and he's well on his way to his first f-100!! =D

Cheryl - I am so sorry about your loss of Barkley. I pray everyday that it will be a very long time before I lose any of my boxing members. I will keep you and all your family in my prayers.

I'm very sorry to hear of the passing of your dog Barkley. I know the feeling because I went through it too. My first letterboxing trail name was "Chuck and Molly" Molly was a chocolate lab who passed away a few years ago. I recently changed my trail name to include all in our "family" whoever is in it now, who has been, and who may be in the future. We call ourselves (my wife, myself, my dog Amy) WWW (We Who Wander) Losing a dog is like losing any loved one. Those who remain have to carry on. As for your trail name, think about it for a while before deciding. I mainly wanted to let you know that others care and are thinking of you....Chuck of WWW (Connecticut)

so sorry to hear about Barkley. praying for comfort for you and the family. heres a quote for you I hope you like it

Dogs are our link to paradise. They don't know evil or jealousy or discontent. To sit with a dog on a hillside on a glorious afternoon is to be back in Eden, where doing nothing was not boring--it was peace.

Thanks to all of you for your kind words and compassion; they mean so much to us. It is good to know that so many understand our loss. His passing was sudden and we were not prepared to say goodbye.

Chuck, I met you and Molly at a gathering when I visited from Ohio and treasure those exchanges. Molly was a sweetheart.

Thanks again,
Cheryl
