Crappy white stuff
Board: Stamp Carving and Mounting

Okay, I have a question.....

My daughter came up with an AMAZING (in my opinion) series that we will be debuting at the Lake George mini-meet this weekend, but then taking home to replant closer to us...

When we went to the store to get more carving material, they didn't have any pink stuff, only the really crumbly white speedball carving medium.... The stamps go together to make one rather large stamped image. It took hours and now I think it's gonna get ruined out in the real world after a little while....

Has anyone found anything that might toughen this material up a bit to make the carve last longer once it has been planted?

I don't think anything is going to help that stuff, but you can just put some foam on the back and hope for the best. Other than that, can't say. Kirbert may have some ideas for you in the a.m.

Nope. It's hopeless crap. Unless covering it in pink stuff or PZ cut that is :-)

Before you remove it from the package, place it in the freezer. Keep it there overnight. Remove the stuff from the freezer and let it warm on the counter, to about room temperature. In the meantime, get four paper towels and stack them nicely. Unwrap the plastic wrap and rewrap in the paper towels. Place the bundle on the counter and lay upon that bundle a cutting board, topped with a few cans of beans.

Wait about 30 minutes for the towels to become saturated. Test the texture, and when it's okay, cut the stuff into slices (small ones). Marinate and sear, and you've got...

tofu.

Ah, well... same difference.
