I'm sure I'll like it when it gets here but I love Winter. Summers are too hot and long in the southeast so Winter is a good break. Not nearly as severe as it is in Canada.

A son of liberty

I officially ran out of winter joy six days ago. Enough skating lessons, enough snow to shovel, enough wind that literally scours the skin right off your face, enough trying to negotiate the sidewalks pocked with hard mountains and valleys of ice covered in just enough snow to make it all incredibly treacherous.

Plus I'm itching to plant a whole dozen stamps in The Big Smoke!

Jiggs, we had a mini-meet (with Landmark Leapsters and Lone R) and we're ready to host Box ON! this year. Is it tradition to have it the last weekend in September? I can book the pavilion now.

Hi: Water Lily here. Just a suggestion/request (I know you may not be able to change this just for me but......) I have a Work Weekend at the camp I run (I'm Exec. Dir. so I sort of HAVE to be there) every fall on the last weekend of September. So I can't come to Box ON! if it's that weekend. If there's any way you could move the Box ON! event one weekend, one way or the other I would dearly love to participate. It was hard to have to miss it last year.

Lone R, Landmark Leapsters and Fiddleheads are happy to host Box ON! in Guelph this year. We had a little mini-meet in February and discussed it then.

I haven't booked anything yet, so it won't be hard to move it. I'd be inclined to move it to the third week of September rather than into October because of Thanksgiving and the weather. The other option, of course, is to do it in the spring.

Does anyone have any preferences? thoughts on date?

Hey, if you're asking any preferences, the Highlander, the IAP and I are all ABOUT a meet in Guelph! It's much closer to us, which makes it more likely that we can get up there a little cheaper. Plus, I've ALWAYS wanted to get at least ONE Canadian box...do it, DO it, DO IT!

There seems to be considerable support for an event in Guelph! Sprite and Highlander, you could box all weekend and not get all the ones in our city, plus there's Kitchener very close by, as well as Milton and Toronto within an hour. Better plan a week!

I'll call the city to book the pavilion at Riverside Park - looks like the third weekend in September it will be! When I get confirmation that we have the picnic shelter booked, I'll list it here.

I've been following this thread since I am in Rochester, NY and would love to attend a gathering with our north of the border brethren.

Just a comment, the third weekend in September is the big "Live and Breathe" gathering out west. Now I can't go to this anyway, so I don't have a problem with that date, but just saying in case anyone else was.

Anyway, hope to see you all this fall.

I just had a look at the Event calendar, and I think we're clear. I'm going to book for Sept. 20 or 21, depending on availability, and Live and Breathe is the 12th. Thanks for mentioning it - it doesn't hurt to have all your ducks in order.

Oh good, I'm glad I got the date wrong!

Am putting this on my calendar...hope to be able to attend...though it is a busy time in my work word of academia. Hopefully will be able to make this.
