OMG, LOL
reminds me of the time . . . . this is true now . . . . my first child was breech and big so a C-section was scheduled. A week before the scheduled date my water broke. I was in a grocery store. I went into the bathroom and called my OBGYN. They asked me what color the fluid was and as I describe "it is kinda thick, like snot, and it's got some pink and black in it" someone had come into the ladies room and went RIGHT back out again.

~resQlou

(for those of you who don't know, describing the color of the fluid is very important. if there is any dark green or black in it then it means that the baby had a bowel movement and it is important to get the baby out hopefully before it inhales any of the waste into it's lungs)

Winter boxing in Joliet IL was way to hard...now night boxing is awesome...just be sure to take a flashlight of some sort...I recommend a surefire...but a shaker light works also...as does a cell phone believe it or not...

Oh, for night boxing- these would be devine!

LL Bean hat

We all have them and have found multiple uses for them (putting up the camper at dusk-or later, helping my grandmother see the ground as we help her up the steps to the house at night, etc...)

AND, mine is pink!

You can't beat the price, either! I mean, I've been on vacation and seen ball caps for $20- just to say you've been there!

Oh, cool! Hey, these folks have it cheaper, and without a logo:

http://www.gofastandlight.com/cart.php?target=product&product_id=531

No logo makes me happy, as I am a Logo-Free Zone.

And they have ORANGE! My favorite color! *scurries off to get Visa card*

Oh, well, yeah...however, I eschew logos on my clothing and accessories, to the point of removing or defacing them. My favorite shoes are the 'black spot' sneakers from Adbusters - they have a blank spot for one to write or draw one's own message on:

FWIW, the only reason I said "visa" is I didn't want to be specific about debit v. credit. Ain't no body's bidnezz but mah own!

My L.L. Bean hat came today! I had it sent to the office because my work keeps me on the road all hours of the night and day.

So, I opened the bag with thirteen women gathered around waiting to see "THE" hat. It looked like a normal hat --- it felt like a normal hat --- you could feel the ripple of excitement just totally deflate. UNTIL, I turned it on. Ooohs and Aahhs escaped their lips and that was it --- we had to turn off the office lights for a proper demonstration! You would have thought it was Christmas --- several took turns wearing the hat and scurrying up and down the dark hallways reporting back with how far they could see. We all have a bit of adventure in our blood. Nope --- we are not a boring place to work! :-D

The lights are pretty bright. And, you can definitely see in front of you. It feels just like a normal ball cap --- not heavy, nothing bulky attached to the back of the hat. Just flip a tiny switch and voila! there is light. Batteries can be replaced and the tag states that there is 24 hours of continuous light.

I can't wait to try it outside when it gets dark tonight!

Thanks Casa del Solv VB for sharing the L.L. Bean hat!

What sort of batteries do these hats use? Since I understand there's nothing heavy in the hat, am I to presume that they use those quarter-size key fob batteries? The type that cost about $3 each? And does it use two or more of them to provide light for 24 hours?

I haven't checked the price on the batteries but they are CR2032 batteries --- I think like the watch batteries.

Just looked at the compartment for the batteries and they are evidently about the same size as a dime.

Yep. Might be used in watches, but commonly used in key fobs for cars with remote door locks. They last forever in a key fob because you only use them for 1/10 second each time you hit the button. Under continuous use such as for a flashlight, they won't last long -- even with LED lights that don't use much power.

Quote ...It takes two batteries.

So you're gonna be out six bucks each time you kill the batteries. Prediction: Once the original batteries are dead, these hats are gonna end up in the back of the closet.

See, I'm the kind guy who would prefer the thing took two AAA batteries, which would cost less than fifty cents each (presuming you got alkalines) and would last 20x as long. But they'd be a little heavier in the hat.

It shouldn't be hard to modify for that arrangement, if you are into that sort of thing...

I would line it with tinfoil while you are at it...

LOL... I used to drive my dad nuts because I would take the flashlight and read under the covers at night. Then when he went to use the flashlight, the batteries were dead! Mom always said I was going to ruin my eyes. (I got glasses for reading when I was 48!) Dad just got me my own flashlight and hid his! I need one of these hats. Wish my dad was still alive. I would get one for him.

Nah, you'll never wear it that long at one shot. My husband has had his a long time (including a night of trick-or-treat) and only just replaced the batts recently. It's not that big of a deal, really. They last much longer than you would think. Plus, nothing beats the hands-free of the hat. No holding the flashlight in your teeth while you stamp in!
