Description
Please come and join The Grateful Letterboxers for another week of "adventures and fun" in 2016 at our 10th annual event! The theme this year will be "The Best Of: Skeletons From The Closet!". Trackers and more details will be posted soon. Once again we plan to take over a large portion of Camp Lorraine, located at the heart of Harold Parker State Forest in Andover MA. Stay for a whole week and attempt to get every letterbox in town, or just come for a long weekend of fun! The campsites are all very nice and they (currently) are $17 to $20 per night for up to 4 people or a family. Campsites can be reserved 6 months in advance, so we'll remind everyone in January. We plan to have campfire socials, hot dog roasts, s'more toasts, night boxing and other assorted Grateful fun! There will be boxes at all GLb campsites and plenty more new creations out on the trails. On Saturday we will be gathering inside the campground on the field opposite Frye Pond for a "BYO Picnic Lunch and Stamp Exchange"! Stay tuned for more details, but clear your calendars now and save the dates!!!If you can't work out a camping trip, you can visit for just the day. Sign-up for the "Group" site so that you may come and go anytime you wish! Seriously - you don't want to miss all the camping festivities and Night boxing! Make an effort to join the campers for at least a two, three or four day stay!!!
Jul 17, 2015: IMPORTANT: Event Date Change!!!
For many years now, The Grateful Letterboxers annual event has been held on the first complete week AFTER the 4th of July. Our intention is to let everyone enjoy that special holiday with close personal friends and family, then enjoy a FULL week with your Grateful friends and family at Camp Lorraine! Also, the campgrounds are much more hectic during the 4th holiday week and it is harder to secure an entire area. This will be our 10th annual event and we want to make sure that as many people as possible will be able to enjoy the gathering without other conflicts. After receiving many requests to change the selected dates for 2016, the administrators have elected to switch the event to 7/10-7/17. Please adjust your schedules for next July and let us know if you can't make the new dates. The big gathering days will be on Friday and Saturday(7/15 & 7/16), but think about staying for the entire week to make the most of the fun that is already being planned!!! We hope this will work for everyone's schedule, and apologize to anyone who is adversely affected by this change.
See you all in 51 weeks for more Grateful Letterboxing Fun!!! ;o)
Jan 14, 2016: Time to start thinking about....CAMPING!
Here it is again, grateful friends, time to start thinking of sunshine and daydreams (as some of us shiver)!! It's the week to book your campsite for the Grateful Letterboxers' 10th Annual Event, The Best Of: Skeletons from the Closet!! The frolicking begins on 7/10 with the full-weekers. Most people will be there the weekend of 7/15-17, so plan accordingly! You really don't want to miss this joyful, groovy week (or weekend) of fun and silliness amongst our great grateful group! It even more super special if you camp, so we encourage you to book your campsites! I believe fees are still $17 (MA residents) to $20 per night for individual sites (max = 4 people and 2 cars). I will be reserving the Group site for Thurs-Sun (more on that later, but fees are $10 per tent per night). The individual sites are already starting to fill up, so don't delay! In case you don't know, the central location, Grateful Row, is situated on the little road with sites 301-307.
It is my honor to manage the Grateful Campers Address List every year. This list will be posted on the AQ event page, and it will be on the bulletin board on Grateful Row during the event. If you would like to be included in this most excellent resource, please send to me your campsite info. I need this info:
1. Site number
2. Trailnames of everyone who will be staying on the site
3. Timeframe you plan to be there (e.g., Thurs-Sun)
Peek inside your closets, friends, and find that ole camping gear, because it's never too early to start getting excited!! :-)
~zess~
Jan 18, 2016: It's Carving time - The Trackers are listed!
All camper should sign-up for this Campsite Tracker:
"So The Kids They Dance, They Shake Their Bones"
Bring your stamp boxed and ready to plant at your campsite when you arrive! Be creative and have some fun with the theme. Please add your song/box name to the tracker BEFORE you start carving.
If you'd like to contribute additional stamps, we'd LOVE to have them! Here are the two main series which we will be planting:
Grateful Skeletons
Sugar Skulls
We will need these stamps by June 1st, preferably boxed and ready to plant.
If you'd also like to join the LTC swap, you can sign-up here:
The Grateful Letterboxers - The Best Of: Skeletons From The Closet!
Time to start getting excited, and don't forget to book your campsites ASAP if you haven't already! AQ-mail us with any questions. We look forward to seeing you all in the warm summer weather!!! ;o)
Jan 19, 2016: Grateful Skeleton Stamps
We've had a few people ask questions about these stamps, so I added the following to the tracker:
"Any type of "Skeleton" will do. Grateful Dead stamps or GD embellishments are ALWAYS appreciated, but not a prerequisite!"
I look forward to seeing all the wonderful creations!!!;o)

Mar 12, 2016: Address List updated
Hello grateful friends!
I have finally updated the Skeletons Address List. As always, please let me know if I missed you or if I made any mistakes!
Peace,
~zess~
Jul 8, 2016: Fee updates!
For those not camping, the day visit fee for Camp Lorraine is $8 per car for MA residents and $10 for out-of-state. Since this is the 100th Year Anniversary of Harold Parker State Forest, they have refurbished the Berry Pond area for visitation, picnics and swimming at the beach. As a result, they are now charging $8/resident and $10/nonresident at the Berry Pond entrance, the Pavilion parking lot on Salem St and the Kiosk parking lot on Jenkins Rd. Displaying your camping car pass on the front dashboard of your car will let you avoid these fees! Make sure to get your car passes before heading out on the trails.
We can add daytrippers to the Group site while space is still available for $10/group. This would cover the Berry pond fees and allow folks to stay past dusk but that needs to be finalized VERY soon. Let us know right away if that is your desire or if there are any questions.
Jul 8, 2016: clues, Clues, CLUES!!!
Eight new series are now in place and 62 new stamps are ready to be discovered! Here are the links for you to print up:
Sweet Scalps (4)
Maltose Minds (8)
Fructose Faces (8)
Cranium Candy (5)
Skeleton Crew (9)
Bony Brothers (9)
Skeleton Sisters (9)
Humerus Hike (9)
The hikes should be fun, but there seems to be something missing from the clues! While planting all the incredible carvings, we accidentally unearthed some "Skeletal Remains" which may help you with your quest. Until the event is over, we are only sharing this information with you!!! Have a look at your AQ mail for this information! ENJOY!!! ;o)
Jul 10, 2016: Skeleton Key Error!
Oops! We've detected an error in the "Skeleton Key" document that was sent out. We will have it adjusted and let you know when it has been corrected. Since we told you not to open that Spoiler link in the first place, we're SURE that none of you have looked at it anyways.....right???? ;o)
Jul 10, 2016: Skeleton Key - Corrected!
It's all fixed now. Print up a new copy if you would like, but we still recommend that you give the trails a shot first without opening the file! It's your call. Do as you please, just have Grateful Fun!!!
If anyone has problems viewing or printing the clues, AQmail us directly and we will help you out!
Jul 12, 2016: Clues printing
I'm still getting occasion message from people who are having printing problems. Here's the process that worked for me:
First I set up a Doc account with email and password. They sent me a passcode. I used that code to log on. Then I was able to download the documents and print. Others have told me that logging in with Facebook was easy.
If that doesn't work, you can try this link instead:
https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0BwZfspoGYHcuLURRLXc2NWVIRGs&usp=sharing
If you continue to have difficulties, AQmail us directly!
Jul 12, 2016: Clue Updates - Error detected on Maltose Minds
The clues for Maltose Minds contained a couple of errors. The clues have now been fixed and are ready on both Google and the Docs.com links. Anyone who has already printed them will need to make a new copy!
Also, Fred (aka Dingus Dufus) has made the Skeleton Key into a PDF that is hopefully easier to print. Here's the link (if you think you REALLY need it):
https://doc.co/rgGTeM
Thanks to the folks who identified the errors and helped us correct the issues! When on the trails, let us know if you find anything that seems incorrect. Yes, we are human and sometimes things get transposed incorrectly when creating, updating and embellishing a gazillion clues. That being said, you should be good to go from here! All the clues have been tested but please keep in mind - THESE ARE CLUES!!! Some of the trails in HP can get convoluted and tricky to navigate. We did our best to guide you along. Keep your eyes open and use your best judgment! Above all, "Have a Grateful Day" and Keep it FUN!!!
Jul 16, 2016: Picnic lunch location moved!
We will meet today on Grateful Row - Site #306 where it's cooler and more shade!
Jul 18, 2016: Thanks for coming! Box links
Thanks to everyone for making the trip! We hope you all enjoyed yourselves and grabbed a stamp or two (or several hundred)! Despite the heat and humidity, the Grateful Bubble kept the rain away and every day was a Sunshine Daydream! Plans are already in the works for next year. We hope to see you all again there! Here are the last few listings which you may not have recorded yet:
Skeletons from the Closet Event Stamp
A Series of Unfortunate Events??? (10)
Friday Night Boxes: Skulls from the Closet! (12)
Saturday Night Boxes: Skeletons in the Closets (12)
Thanks again for bringing all your creativity and smiles! Never too early to get excited for "The Eleven"!!! ;o)
Pete
Jul 21, 2016: "The Eleven"
For those who may have missed the new listing, you can now sign-up for the 2017 event!
http://www.atlasquest.com/showinfo.html?gEventId=3709
"The Eleven"
High green chilly winds and windy vines
In loops around the twisted shafts of lavender,
They're crawling to the sun.
Underfoot the ground is patched
With arms of ivy wrapped around the manzanita,
Stark and shiny in the breeze.
Wonder who will water all the children of the garden
When they sigh about the barren lack of rain and
Droop so hungry neath the sky.
William Tell has stretched his bow till it won't stretch
No furthermore and/or it may require a change that hasn't come before.
No more time to tell how, this is the season of what,
Now is the time of returning with our thought
Jewels polished and gleaming.
Now is the time past believing the child has relinquished the rein,
Now is the test of the boomerang tossed in the night of redeeming.
Seven faced marble eyed transitory dream doll,
Six proud walkers on the jingle bell rainbow,
Five men writing with fingers of gold,
Four men tracking down the great white sperm whale,
Three girls waiting in a foreign dominion
Riding in the whalebelly, fade away in moonlight,
Sink beneath the waters to the coral sands below
