Description

Please come and join The Grateful Letterboxers for a week of "Stellar" fun in 2014 at our 8th annual event! The theme this year will be "Space" (Stars, Planets, Rockets, Spaceships, Astronauts, Aliens, etc....). Trackers and more details will be posted soon. Once again we plan to take over a large portion of Camp Lorraine, located at the heart of Harold Parker State Forest in Andover MA. Stay for a whole week and attempt to get every letterbox in town, or just come for a long weekend of fun! The campsites are all very nice and they (currently) are only $12 to $14 per night for up to 4 people or a family. Campsites can be reserved 6 months in advance, so we'll remind everyone in January. We plan to have campfire socials, hot dog roasts, s'more toasts, night boxing and other assorted Grateful fun! There will be boxes at all GLb campsites and plenty more new creations out on the trails. On Saturday we will be gathering inside the campground on the field opposite Frye Pond for a "BYO Picnic Lunch and Stamp Exchange"! Stay tuned for more details, but clear your calendars now and save the dates!!!

If you can't work out a camping trip, you can visit for just the day (but must be out by dusk). That fee is $5 per car, so carpool with your friends! However, if you sign-up for the "Group" site instead, you may come and go anytime you wish! Seriously - you don't want to miss all the camping festivities and Night boxing! Make an effort to join the campers for at least a two, three or four day stay!!!

Jan 11, 2014: It's Reservation time!
Hello my Grateful Friends!

It's time to start dreaming warm summer thoughts of campfire toasts and hot dog roasts! Our event is now officially just six months away, so you can start making your campsite reservations!!!

As in previous years, Grateful Row will be centered along the "300's" and we hope to take over the entire back end of the campgrounds. If you want to be near most of the action (and we hope you do!), book your sites close by in the 200's, 30's or 100's. We have also booked the group site (G01) Thurs-Sat for those who would like to camp together! That site can accommodate up to 40 people. Fees for the group site are just $10/night! Let us know the dates you are interested in and we'll ad you to that list. Otherwise, individual sites can be booked NOW at the ReserveAmerica web site:
Harold Parker Campsite Reservations

Day Trippers are allowed access for a fee, but you're better off signing-up for the group site so that you can stay past dusk and enjoy the campfires and night boxing! After you sign-up somewhere, please let us know your site # (and which groups are staying there) so we can add you to our list!

We hope EVERYONE will be planting an Alien, Spacecraft or both at their campsites. Be creative - make up your own design! One color images are preferred, so pick a favorite. Bring it with you, plant it at your site, then list it on the "Clue Board" located on Grateful Row. Join up on this tracker first, then add your box (with the campsite number noted):

Greetings Grateful Voyagers,

I will be coordinating the Grateful Campers Flight Roster and the Group site for our out-of-this-world Dark Star event in July!! :-) I have posted to the event page the information I have at this time about where people are staying.

PLEASE let me know when you book a site! I would like the site number, names of everyone who will be staying there (trailnames), and the nights you plan to be there. Of course, if you do not want this information posted on the event board or at the campground, then you need not give it to me. :-)

If anyone is interested in the Group site, please let me know the nights you'd like to stay. I have the site booked for Thurs, Fri, and Sat nights.

Please check the table at the top of the Dark Star event page to see whether I have your site listed, including all appropriate trailnames and the days you'll be staying.

Feb 1, 2014: Dark Star LTC Tracker
We're looking for a few more Grateful Letterboxers to fill up our 2014 LTC tracker. If you're interested in a STELLAR set of cards, please sign-up here!

Grateful Letterboxers: Dark Star LTCs

This is the LTC swap that accompanies our 8th annual Grateful Letterboxers event, "Dark Star". This year's theme is "Space." Think.....stars, planets, rockets, spaceships, astronauts, aliens, etc.. You may also want to consider a character, object, or scene from Star Wars or Star Trek. Interpret this however you wish, just keep the content family friendly.
We will do the swap just like any other except everyone who participates will send two additional cards to be used as door prizes for two lucky winners.
The listing is open for 24 people, so 26 cards will be sent by each participant, two extra for the door prizes. It is important to be prompt with the due date so cards can be returned to you before the event and the extra cards will be ready for the door prizes!
All LTCs must be 2.5 X 3.5, with either portrait or landscape orientation. An original hand-carved stamp needs to adorn the front of the card, and each card must have the carving hand-stamped (no photocopies, please).

Hello my Grateful friends!

We can't wait to see you all at the Dark Star event!!! If you haven't already reserved your campsite, now is the time. Once again, we've taken over almost the entire back of Camp Lorraine! There are still a few sites left in the 200's and 40's, as well as site 115 and a couple in the 20's. Get them while they're still available! Several wonderful stamps have already arrived and planting plans are under way for all the fun series. Make sure to plan your "Aliens and Spaceship" stamp for planting at your campsite - be creative! We will be having a BYO picnic lunch and stamp exchange on Saturday around noontime at the open field inside the campgrounds. Lots of other things are in the works. Night boxing will be available on multiple evenings, and fun times will always be happening on Grateful row. Don't miss the campfire get-togethers. Bring lots of extra ink along with your beautiful smiling faces! It's sure to be another STELLAR Grateful Letterboxer event!!!

Hello Fellow Grateful Travelers!

I just cannot believe that in just two short weeks we'll be packing our space vehicles and shooting for the Dark Star of the millennium!! So much anticipation and joy!!!

I've updated the event page with my most current Campground Address List (aka Flight Roster). Please check to be sure I got it right. I've been known to miss detail or two here and there. That's the only reason I wasn't chosen for the last space shuttle mission. Also, if you're not there, and want to be, please send your site/trailname(s)/nights camping to me, and I'll add you.

Hello Grateful Co-pilots!

I cannot believe that in less than a week people will start docking at Dark Star!!! WOOOO-HOOOOOO! My favorite time of the year. :-)

I just want to take this opportunity to ask that everyone look through the Harold Parker Campground Rules. Really important stuff in there. Please, BE SMART!! We have always had a wonderful relationship with the rangers, for which we are GRATEFUL, and which we wish to continue FOREVER! :-)

Fuel up, rev the engines, load the cargo.....it's almost time to shoot for Dark Star!!
