Description

I will have a place for anyone to post clues for boxes they may want to hide when they arrive. There are cards to write them on also.

Fishing Expedition boxes will be hidden around the area. There are 12 stamps, but only 10 boxes. These are a set of store bought stamps, but I thought it would help keep the kids busy. Of course, you BIG kids are welcome to stamp them too. A friend (Sherry, Jeanie of the Lamp's sister) donated them for me to use. I will post the clues for the event boxes closer to the event. They are all HIPS boxes.

Back to Mills Park again. I had a lot of feedback and seems like everyone wants to come back again next year. Reservations have been made for Mills Park.

Hotel Info:
I went back to the Lazy Bear Inn in Pigeon Forge again. They are willing to offer the rooms for $40 per night. This is a good price for the weekend. Make sure you mention that you are with The Letterboxing group to get the discount. The phone # is 865-453-5568 or 800-448-3040. This motel does not allow pets. I know the Holiday Inn allows pets and there is an extra charge for them. Briarstone Inn (865) 453-4225 also allows pets. All of these are in Pigeon Forge. If you go on line there are lots of hotels/motels listed.

Directions to event:
Going into Gatlinburg from Pigeon Forge, turn left at traffic light 3 which is Rt 321 or East Parkway. Go to traffic light 3A (which is Glades Rd) from there watch your mileage and it is 1.7 miles through the light If you make it to Pitman Center, turn around and go back. You're looking for Mills Park Rd on the left. There is a great big WHITE sign that says "BuckHorn Center" where you turn. The park and road signs are brown wood and fairly small. After turning left go .4 miles to Mills Park. If you're coming in 321 from off I 40 watch for the signs on your right. If you miss it and get to traffic light 3A turn around and go back. Do not use Mapquest map, it is wrong. Yahoo & Google is ok, but still confusing. If you're coming over the mountain from NC, when you go through Gatlinburg, turn right at traffic light #3, which is 321.

Thinking on a theme for this year's event brought us around to Spring Cleaning. Here are a few suggestions:
How about "Spring Cleaning" There could be stamps about brooms, dustpans, mops, Swiffer sweepers, angry dust mite cooties, cleaners that come in spray bottles, popular cleaning agent labels. And during the event we could do a litter pick up while boxing or a trash scavenger hunt (everyone being given a pair of latex/neopreen gloves). I was planning a scavenger hunt for the kids this year anyway, so this sounds like a winner to me. Thanks Rowdy Rodeo Roosters for the suggestions. If you come up with a stamp or box, let me know so I can post it so we don't have too many duplicates. Table toppers are always welcome.

I have listed clues for the event boxes. All are HIPS (Hidden In Plain Sight) boxes. A few have notified me they will be hiding boxes upon arrival. I have recently planted 2 new boxes and will be planting another one next week possibly 2. See everyone soon.

Mar 21, 2011: Hotel
Just a reminder that the Hotel listed is the Lazy Bear Inn in Pigeon Forge. They now accept small pets. Dogs under 15 pounds. There will be a $15 non-refundable fee for pet rooms. The phone # is 800-448-3040 or 865-453-5568. It's not too late to reserve your room or to change your reservations from another hotel. This is the only hotel that would offer any discounts for the event.

Mar 21, 2011: After Event dinner
Woops! Forgot to mention that there is an After Event Gathering for Dinner at the Smokey Mountain Brewery. They have very good food and is family friendly. Safari Man has an event sign-up if you plan on going. Make sure you sign-up so he can make reservations.

Mar 23, 2011: Changes to a few boxes
I have a few changes to some of my boxes for those of you that may have already printed some clues. A Troll In The Park has moved. Art For The Heart is not available right now. I'm looking for it a new home. I added a new one called "Lily" which is close to where these other two boxes were planted on Glades Rd. I have another one to plant this next week. I keep you undated.
