Like the previous searcher, we could not locate the "prickly one".

If the trail you were referring to was the paved Hillview Trail, then the box is missing. I did find out find a large Cactus and rocks right where expected, so I assumed that was the correct trail. I did not find any other trailheads matching the description with cacti in the right place.

I think the pet leash sign may be gone (there was a post by the start of the trail that clearly once had a sign attached), but it's not hard to find the right trail.
