Wyoming is a state in the Western United States. The western two thirds of the state is mostly covered by the mountain ranges and rangelands in the foothills of the Eastern Rocky Mountains, while the eastern third of the state is high elevation prairie known as the High Plains. Wyoming is the tenth largest U.S. state by area, and it is the least populous, with a U.S. Census population of 563,626 in 2010. This is a 14.1% increase since 2000. The capital and the most populous city of Wyoming is Cheyenne.
Silly Joke
A car filled with six tourists drove by two bears in Yellowstone National Park. The bears turned to look at the car. One bear turned to the other and said, “Isn’t it awful to keep people caged up like that!”
Theme Elements
My only personal experience with Wyoming is pretty much limited to Yellowstone and the immediate surrounding area, so this is admittedly more a Yellowstone theme than a real Wyoming theme. Perhaps someday when I thru-hike the Continental Divide Trail I’ll update the theme to have a couple of photos outside of Yellowstone! But you gotta admit, Yellowstone is pretty darn awesome with its fantastic thermal features and wildlife galore!
The title bar has some of the parks buffalo. The ‘misty’ area behind them is part of a thermal feature as well, but it’s not obvious in the photo since it mostly just looks like fog. The bottom photos have some more thermal features and wildlife taken at Mammoth Hot Springs. Amanda, obviously, is quite amazed at the surrounding beauty! =)
