This is the story of a Love Denied…

An Indian Chief, who was in love with another Chief’s daughter, Wild Dove, requested her hand. The Chief denied his petition. Not to be dissuaded in his pursuit of happiness, this love struck Chief raided the wigwam of Wild Dove, to steal his beloved. He was caught in the act and failed to capture her. Humiliated by defeat, he retreated to the Pond now known by his name. There, the lovelorn Chief was sent by the Water Spirit to the bottom of the pond where he still lives. Legend has it that, to trade for fish, one must throw tobacco in the pond as an offering to this exiled Chief.
