Something is falling out of the sky here in Ktown. They've just announced school closing in the next hour. I don't think it will accumulate much to anything but it doesn't take much to close schools here.

Even though my girls are in school in Wake county, it's a charter school so don't follow WCPS schedule and they have early release. That means it counts as a school day, they don't have to make it up and they will be home before it gets too bad!

For me on the other hand, my division of my company NEVER closes. I will be staying in a hotel tonight so that they know I will be here in the morning.

At least we do have the hot chocolate in the break room!

There's a 200' path from the parking lot behind our apartment to the parking lot of the health care mall on the next road. That stupid little path is on Google maps!

And how many boxes can we find on that 'stupid' little path?!?

i think we should add fishing for boxes in one of the pools, shooting for boxes in the archery range, canoeing for boxes somewhere, possibly a costume contest (dressing as a lobster -or your favorite Maine Bean Boot?)

....... sounds like a "Live & Breathe" adventure! Don't forget to add a friendly "Moose" Hunt!!! ;o)

I use Google Maps to create marauder's maps for parks that have a lot of boxes. Makes for efficient box gatherage. :)

That is a very nice tutorial with very clear pictures & directions. I can hardly wait to see some new projects that people are going to work on - hint, hint!! This actually might work for me for a project I have coming up. I had forgotten to think about that option!!

I love these types of discussions. Let's keep it going!!

How to adjust an attribute?

I have some plants containing stamps originally carved for LTCs. Therefor, they are recycled. I want to adjust my boxes to show the "recycled" attribute. It will be accurate in the listing as well as in my 'carves' tally. Is there a way I can do this? :(

Please pray our 9 month pregnant daughter makes it home today from work. It's snowing pretty hard and she is not use to driving in snow and ice.

Thank you

  • Find the box listing
  • Click the "Edit Box" (pencil) button
  • Click on the "Next Page" button or the "Attributes" button at the bottom
  • Click the checkmark next to "Recycled Stamp"
  • Click the "Save" button

Personally, I don't bother with the recycled attribute unless I've used the same stamp multiple times in the same format (e.g., two LTCs).

I have plans for a series in Wurtsboro too, but it'll probably be a good while before I get it done. I know the trail though and it is a good one. Hopefully no one plants there before I can do it. I set a deadline for this first one finally, PAL day.

Since you mentioned it, how do you age pages? I've soaked them in tea, rubbed them in dirt, and burned edges.

Oops, I should have paid attention to which board this was posted on. The recycled attribute is an attribute that exists for nontraditional boxes (e.g., LTCs).

If you really want people to know that you've used the stamp before, just leave a note in the clues.

People are aware that stamp images are often used for nontraditional plants before being placed in the wild. Almost all LTC makers plant their stamps or give them away for other people to plant.

It will be accurate in the listing as well as in my 'carves' tally.

The recycled attribute doesn't effect the 'carves' tally. The count will include the same stamps more than once if you have used the stamp in more than one listing, and it'll also include any store bought or custom made stamps. I wouldn't worry about it.

It sounds like you should list these as an LTC series. Here is an LTC series I'm working on if you need an example of how to list it.

I agree with the idea of stamping a part of the stamp so that they are standard 2.5x3.5 size.

Thicker is no problem. Check the "thick" attribute when you list it.

Standard edition to print: 12, 18, 27 are popular #s but this is completely up to you - as many or as few as you would like to do.

Trading a set: This best way to do it would probably be to create an LTC Singleton Tracker. Here's an example one

Hope that helps! Welcome to LTC Land!

You mean the Wurtsboro near me? As in NY? Cool!

I have so far aged papers with a combination of tea, coffee & vinegar. Seems to work. And never pour it down the drain, even though you think you are done, until the project is complete. Every time I end up going back & needing a few more sheets. The dirt is an interesting thought.

Aging - I always seem to go back into sheets & paint areas so there is more concentration in certain sections. And what looks like age spots. Clear water dripped on can also look like something was spilled on a page.

Yep, near you. It's where my parents live so I get up there once or twice a year.

What does the vinegar do? I also thought of something I did on ltcs. Put lemon juice on them and put them in the oven for a few. It made darker spots. Came out good, imo.

In the few rare instances I've planted a store-bought stamp, I blanked out the carver box on the Series Info page, and it shows up as None Listed, since I didn't carve anything, and it shouldn't get included in my carves.

The best way to manage an OCD-required accurate list is to create a spreadsheet or a journal. You could make/buy a logbook and stamp and number all of the stamps that you carve and then you'd have a completely accurate count of your carves.

If for some (sick, depraved, nonsensical) reason I ever planted a store-bought stamp, I would do the same thing :)
